A regular at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Andy Sturgeon is an accomplished medal winner with his innovative planting, lighting and installation ideas achieving gold medal winner status no less than nine times, including winning the highest accolade of ‘best in show’ three times.

Andy won a gold medal for The Mind Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2022  – a dramatic, yet tranquil and beautiful garden set in woodland that opens up into meadows. It comprises a series of curved walls with differing heights, shades and textures. Each one is carefully positioned to define spaces, paths and seating areas whilst simultaneously providing a backdrop for planting and framing views into the garden in all directions. The garden promotes the benefits of nature and gardens, while promoting the importance of conversations about mental health.

The garden has now found a new home at Mind in Furness.

The M&G Garden was inspired by the concept of ecological succession and celebrated the ability and power of plants to adapt and colonise habitats in what is known as ‘ecological succession.’ The woodland themed garden design was inspired by Andy Sturgeon’s deep-rooted childhood memories of woodland environments. It won best in show in 2019.

The Telegraph’s ‘Captured Landscape’ garden, which won best in show at the RHS Chelsea flower show in 2016 is a powerful depiction of the geological events that shape our landscape and testimony to Andy’s striking use of unusual plants, architecture and sculptural forms.
