St. Johns Wood Square is a unique residential development in the heart St John’s Wood, London’s original garden suburb.
In the heart of one of London’s most prized locations a historic transformation is underway. St John’s Wood Barracks, the former home of The King’s Troop and The Royal Horse Artillery for over 100 years, is now being thoughtfully reimagined as St John’s Wood Square, a highly anticipated new address for the capital. With a masterplan inspired by London’s traditional garden squares, elegant apartments and townhouses will sit amongst landscaped gardens, with the site’s Grade II listed Riding School building restored and given new life as the focal point for residents who call St John’s Wood Square home.
St John’s Wood Square spans 5.5 private acres in a peaceful enclave of St John’s Wood in North London. The site itself has witnessed centuries of evolution, from its origins as forest and farmland to playing a major role in British military history. First developed into a barracks in 1812, over the course of the next two centuries the land was home to some of the British army’s most prestigious corps and visited by members of the Royal Family including King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. In 2012, the King’s Troop relocated from the Barracks and staged its final parade down St John’s Wood High Street, marking the end of an era for the celebrated regiment’s presence in the area.
St John’s Wood Square will offer a collection of 120 homes. The timeless architecture of the residences has been designed by architects Squire & Partners and EPR, whilst Wilkinson Eyre is responsible for the meticulous restoration of the Grade II listed Riding School.
Externally, Andy Sturgeon Design is designing the many landscaped gardens at St John’s Wood Square. Conceived as an extension of the architecture, the outside spaces provide peaceful, perennial havens where residents and their families can connect and recharge.
ASD are involved in all stages of design and implementation, including successfully securing planning permission for the scheme in 2014.
Sales launch in Autumn 2026.
