Work started at Horatio’s Garden Belfast
Work has started to create the seventh Horatio’s Garden at the Spinal Cord Injuries Unit of Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast. The garden is designed to offer year round sanctuary at the hospital to patients, their loved ones and the staff. Patients there can often have very long stays while they recover from their injuries. Andy designed the garden after meeting with the patients, visitors and staff at Musgrave Park to create a home from home that offers spaces for rest, recuperation and sanctuary.
The garden will provide an environment rich in the sights, sounds, scents and feel of nature and offers a welcome refuge from the clinical feeling of a hospital. It will have a Boccia court, garden room, event space and garden pods.
Andy says:
“It’s very exciting to start the build to transform this space into Horatio’s Garden Northern Ireland. It’s clear that this garden will have a remarkably positive and restorative effect on people’s lives and wellbeing and I can’t wait to see it start making a difference.”
The garden is due for completion later in the year.
