Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
Andy Sturgeon Design is leading the transformation of Sloane Street into a stunning green boulevard, in collaboration with Cadogan, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and John Macaslan & Partners. This project will enhance the 1km street from Knightsbridge to Sloane Square with wider pavements, elegant street furniture, improved lighting, and urban greening. The design prioritises reduced water consumption by introducing a mix of drought-tolerant plants, ensuring long-term sustainability amid fluctuating climate conditions. A diverse mixture of species was selected, including both native varieties and species from as far afield as South Africa, to ensure resilience and adaptability. Another critical aspect of the design was the selection of plant species adept at capturing pollutants, thereby significantly improving air quality in this bustling urban streetscape, with the aim to create a more pedestrian-friendly luxury shopping destination by Spring 2025.
