i maestri del paesaggio: international meeting of the landscape and garden

5-20 September 2015, Bergamo, Italy

Each year, Arketipos gathers a host of well-known international personalities from the field of landscaping – landscape architects, garden designers, historians and photographers – to create the International Meeting of the Landscape; a variety of events, seminars and workshops showcasing global landscape works centered around the event theme. This years theme as ‘The Feeding Landscape’

The spectacular Bergamo Alta plays host to the events, and thousands of visitors congregate in Le Piazze Verde and the many beautiful historic buildings in the Città Alta.

“Once again, the historic Piazza Vecchia of Bergamo is to be made over in green. A much-awaited appointment for thousands of visitors who are ready to enjoy I Maestri del Paeaggio’s creation: Piazza Vecchia as a green outdoor living room in the heart of Bergamo’s Città Alta. The makeover of Piazza Vecchia, icon of the Event, assumes a new appeal every year thanks to the collaboration with international landscape artists. This year it is Britain’s Andy Sturgeon, together with the creativity and competence of Lucia Nusiner and Maurizio Quargnale, who will work the project, taking the baton from the eclectic Peter Fink.”

Andy Sturgeon Design were asked to design this years Piazze Verde. With the these of ‘The Feeding Landscape’, we saw this as an opportunity to create a contemporary representation of the evolution of the surrounding Italian landscape – man’s interventions from a natural woodland to cultivated land for growing crops and raising livestock.
